Our products are made from Bead for Life Handmade beads. These beads are made from recycled paper (mostly magazines), torn into strips and rolled into beads. These beads are varnished to make them water proof. They are extremely durable with a wide variety of colors.
You must see these beads to truly appreciate their uniqueness and beauty. The stripes and other color variations on these beads are a result of different colors on the magazine pages. Also, sometimes words are visible as they wrap around the bead. They make a truly unique piece of jewelry while contributing to a great cause.
Bead for Life eradicates extreme poverty by creating bridges of understanding between impoverished Africans and concerned world citizens. Ugandan women turn colorful recycled paper into beautiful beads, and people who care open their hearts, homes and communities to buy and sell the beads.
The beads thus become income for housing, food, medicine, school fees etc. Please see additional info at http://www.beadforlife.org/. It is truly a great cause!
All profits from BeadforLife are invested in community development projects that generate income and help people work their way out of poverty
